Hello!! Today, I am sharing with you a couple of different ways to use the Sweater Vest Dies from Sunny Studio Stamps! Not only is this die perfect for Christmas time and the “ugly sweater”, but it works well with Father’s Day, Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, and all birthdays as well! Since this weekend is Father’s Day in the U.S., I geared my cards toward “Dad” but moms can love fishing and be in the military as well!

I went with two separate designs today that share a lot of similarities but look extremely different. The first one is a military tactical vest. I have two brothers that have served in the United States Marine Corps, and I had them in mind when creating this. I used some 12″x12″ camouflage paper from Hobby Lobby and then used the Sweater Vest Die Set to create my base. I added some pockets by simply using both a basic small rectangle and square die and then rounded the bottom edges with a small corner punch.

I added some flaps to the top of each pocket by diecutting some more camouflage paper with the long ribbed die that comes with this set. I also created some dog tags by diecutting some mirror paper with the teeny tiny, half circle looking die that comes with the Sliding Window Die. I cut them from Mirror Card Stock and then attached them to some Ball Chain and then glued them to my card.

My second card is a fishing vest. Both my husband and my dad love to fish and this style card would be perfect for either one of them. I used the Loopy Letters Dies to create the word “dad” but you can customize it however you like.

I used the same technique as above to create all of my pockets except for the very tiny ones. For those, I used a very small square die and then used that same small half circle die from the Sliding Window Die Set to cut the bottom of each square to resemble a pocket. For the larger pockets, I once again used the corner punch. I actually used the v-neck die and cut it to size to add some top trim to the pockets. For some added interest, I also adhered some brown cord behind each pocket to resemble zippers and compartments like most fishing vests have.
