Hello, friends! It’s time for a new Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! For my take on this week’s sketch, I decided to replace the shapes in the sketch with actual images instead of following the sketch exactly. It’s a lot of fun to come up with different ways to make the sketch work.
I combined the BB Magical Dragons Stamp Set with both the Snow-Capped Mountains and Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics to create a fun magical scene.
For my background sky, I blended Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, and Seedless Preserves Oxide Inks onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I then used a #4 paintbrush to loosely splatter this panel with water and then let it sit for about a minute prior to lightly blotting it dry with a clean paper towel.
I stamped all of my images with Copic friendly Black Ink onto another sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and used Copics to color them. I used the coordinating BB Magical Die-namics to cut out my images and then set them aside to finish the background of my card. For my mountains, I used the Snow-Capped Die-namics to cut them from White Watercolor Card Stock and then blended them with both Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks before splattering them with water and repeating the same steps as above.
I used the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics to diecut some clouds and then added my images with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares. Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder onto a strip of Black Licorice Card Stock and then die cut it with one of the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics before trimming off one end to make it flat.
Here’s a look at this week’s challenge. Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! Winner chosen randomly. Head on over to the MFT BLOG for more sketch inspiration and for the the link to enter.
