Hello, crafty friends! It’s time for this month’s Card Kit previews from My Favorite Things! The kit is called Flowers In Bloom and it’s both simple and gorgeous!

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes tend to get overwhelmed when using floral stamps because I don’t always know where I should place them or how many flowers I should add to my card. The nice thing about this stamp set is that the work is already done for you! This set comes with one large and gorgeous floral stamp and a bunch of beautiful sentiments.

Because the stamp is already laid out for you, you don’t need to worry about flower placement or masking unless you opted for a different design. Just stamp, color (if you wanted to), and go! This kit also includes three gorgeous, exclusive Color Burst Watercolor Powders designed by Ken Oliver for My Favorite Things! The colors are Tropical Teal, Jellybean Green, and Coral Crush.

If you’ve never used any of Ken Oliver’s Color Burst Watercolor Powders, they are super fun and easy to apply! You can use them to sprinkle and create an easy watercolored background, or you can apply them as watercolor paints to color your images. This is the method that I used today and I sprinkled some Tropical Teal Color Burst Powder onto a craft mat, sprayed it with water, blended it with a small paint brush and then applied it to my petals.

This kit also comes with a few sheets of Ken Oliver Watercolor Paper. To start my card, I trimmed one of these sheets down to 4.25″ x 5.5″ (standard A2 sized card) and then heat embossed my floral image on the right hand size with some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. Once dry, I then loosely added my diluted Tropical Teal Color Burst Powder petal by petal. I love the soft look of that watercoloring provides!

I used a medium green Zig Watercolor Brush to color in my stems (although, the Jellybean Green Watercolor Powder would have worked perfectly for this.) I then heat embossed my sentiment with some Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder and added a few Clear Drops around my card for some added interest. Lastly, I trimmed my piece down to 4″ x 5.25″ and then, to give it a coordinated border, adhered it to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ mat cut from Tropical Teal Card Stock.

This gorgeous new kit will be available this coming Tuesday, June 25th, at 10AM EST. You can get this kit in a discounted bundle deal while supplies last, or purchase each item individually if you did not want everything in the set. Thanks for sharing how you use the powders, just so pretty.
Thank you, Susan! I don’t practice a lot of water coloring, but it was super easy to water down the Tropical Teal Powder and loosely apply it to the petals.

Thank you so much, Anne! I was pretty excited when I saw what colors were included in the kit. That teal/blue is one of my absolute favorites! :0)
I agree with you that this flower set takes away the doubts of single flowers. You have the three all together and that’s that! It’s really is a simple yet elegant look, and the blue that you’ve used on base and on the flowers make a fantastic look.
Thank you so much! Some people have a knack for floral layouts…but that is definitely not me, lol. It takes me quite a long time to figure out floral orientations on cards. The fact that they’re together and already layering each other made it super easy for me. :0)
Absolutely LOVE the teal flowers—the card is beautiful!!!
