Hello everyone! The July Release from My Favorite Things will be available tomorrow, July 9th, at 10 AM EST! I have the sweetest group of mermaids to share with you today! The Mermaid for Each Other Stamp Set is filled with four adorable little mermaids and a bunch of cute sea accessories.
I created a fun little shakercard to share with you today featuring two of the mermaids and their little crab friend. I love that little crab so much that I made sure that he would fit into my card somewhere! To start, I first created an ink blended background by blending some Distress Oxide Inks onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock.
Distress Oxide Background Combo
- Wilted Violet
- Shaded Lilac
- Peacock Feathers
- Cracked Pistachio
When I had finished blending my ink, I then splattered some water onto my background with a #4 paint brush and let it sit for a minute before gently blotting it dry with a clean paper towel. This technique helps to give my background more texture and interest.
I stamped all of my images with Copic friendly Black Ink onto another sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and colored them with Copic Sketch Markers. I used the coordinating Mermaid for Each Other Die-namics to cut them out.
I used the Under the Sea Die-namics to diecut some ocean plants from white card stock and adhered them to the bottom portion of my card. For the shaker component, I diecut 7 frames from white card stock using the Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics. I used liquid adhesive to glue 6 of them together to create a clean frame for my embellishments. I filled my card with some Magestic Mini Sequins from Studio Katia as well as some white microbeads.
I hope you enjoyed my card today! Once again, make sure to stop by the MFT Blog for some more inspiration! Make sure to leave a comment there for a chance to win a $75 MFT Gift Voucher!

Wowser! The splash of colour is so uplifting. The blending is flawless while the placement is darling. Shaker cards are my favourite to make – and receive! Just about when you’re done making a card, you figure adding a pocketful of happiness sprinkled with a handful of sparkle completes it! I love the end product of your card, Rachel. TFS. Cheerio from Australia.
Thank you so much, Adam!
