Hello! It’s time for a brand new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! I encourage you to stretch your paper crafting creativity and come play along with us. One random entry will be chose to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!

For my take on this week’s sketch, I used the newly released Reindeer Games Stamp Set. I used this set to also create a fun snowy, heat embossed background. To start, I first stamped my images onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Copic friendly Black Ink. I colored them with Copic Sketch Markers and used the coordinating Reindeer Games Stamp Set to cut them out.

I then set aside my images to work on my background. I use both the large and small snowflake stamp that comes with this set to heat emboss some snow with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. Once set, I then blended this panel with some blue/green Distress Oxide Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce, and Chipped Sapphire). I then splattered this panel with some water to give it more texture. I blotted off any excess water with a dry paper towel and then splattered this panel again with diluted Opaque White Paint for some added “snow”.

I used the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics to add a strip of snow at the bottom of my card and then adhered my images with some 3D Foam Adhesive Tape. Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment onto some Black Licorice Card Stock and used one of the Skinny Strips Die-namics to cut it out. I trimmed off any excess with a pair of scissors.

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. Head on over to the MFT Blog for more Sketch Challenge Inspiration!

Your snowy background is beautiful, Rachel. While the white splatter effect mimics falling snow the “blotted off” ink gives a bokeh effect of drifting snow in the distance. That small red cardinal is colour-matched with Rudolf’s nose! How fabulous! This truly is a beautiful card. TFS. Cheers and blessing from the Land Down Under, Adam.
Yes, he IS matched with Rudolph’s nose, lol. Thank you for all of your kind and generous comments! Have a wonderful weekend!
