Hello friends! It’s time for a new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! This week’s sketch is so much fun and goes perfectly with the upcoming holidays if you want it to!

I created a fun winter shaker card featuring a hanging Christmas ornament. To start my card, I first stamped my cute little yeti from the Birdie Brown Beast Friends Stamp Set with black ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I colored him with some cool gray Copics (0, C00, C0, C2, C4, C5) and added some white gel pen for added accents. I then used the coordinating die set to cut him out.

I set him aside and went to work on my winter background. I blended some Distress Oxide Inks (Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers) onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Smooth White Card Stock. I then splattered this piece lightly with water and let it sit for about a minute before quickly blotting it dry with a clean paper towel. I then used one of the snowflakes from the Stacey Yacula Warm & Feathered Hugs Set to heat emboss some white snowflakes onto my background panel. Once complete, I then splattered this panel again but this time with diluted Opaque White Paint to add a snowy effect.

To create my ornament, I created a circular frame by using two of the circle dies from the Circle STAX Set 1 Die-namics. I cut 6 of these frames from white card stock and glued 5 of them together to form room for the shaker embellishments. I added a background to my ornament by blending some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink onto a circular piece of white card stock. I also added a snowy hill drift to this using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics. I glued my yeti to this background, added some shaker pieces and then glued a circular piece of clear acetate over the top of my ornament. I then added my last circular frame piece to the top of this and adhered my finished ornament to the front of my card.

I added a shimmery top, string, and bow to my ornament using dies the Filled with Joy Die-namics. I had cut these pieces from white card stock, colored with gray Copics, and then covered them twice with some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter. Lastly, I added my sentiment from the Bitty Holiday Wishes Stamp Set that I had heat embossed with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder onto a piece of Black Licorice Card Stock.
