MFT Stamps | November Birthday Project Challenge

November 14, 2019

Hello crafty friends! For this month’s Birthday Project Challenge from My Favorite Things, it’s all about creating super festive cards that either include shaker elements (such as glitter, sequins, or confetti), or slider elements (or both!).

For my card today, I created a bright shaker card that features images from the Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes Stamp Set illustrated by Stacey Yacula. I first decided what I wanted my color scheme to be and then created my background by blending some Distress Oxide Inks (Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Carved Pumpkin, and Fossilized Amber) onto a sheet of smooth white card stock. I then trimmed this panel down to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and splattered it with some water.

I blotted this panel dry with a clean paper towel and then splattered it again with some diluted Opaque White Paint, and watered down pink and gold Gansai Watercolor Paints. I then set this piece aside and went to work on my images.

I stamped my images onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Black: W5, W7, W8
  • White: 0, W00, W1, W2, W4
  • Dark Pink: R81, R83, R85
  • Light Pink: RV0000, RV000, RV00, RV02
  • Orange: YR20, YR21, YR12, YR15
  • Yellow: Y11, Y08, Y15
  • Green: G20, YG00, YG03, YG17, YG67
  • Brown: E40, E42, E43, E44, E47

I then created a frame with 4 cutouts using the Gift Box Cover Up Die-namics. I cut this piece out 6 times (using white card stock) and glued 5 of them together to form the perfect amount of dimension to fit my sequins. I adhered this layered panel to my card base and filled each opening with 3mm Magestic Sequins from Studio Katia. I added a piece of clear acetate over the entire panel and glued one more frame on top of everything to give it a clean look. Lastly, I added my images with 3D Foam Adhesive Squares and my sentiment that I had heat embossed onto a strip of Black Licorice Card Stock.
