Hello friends! For this month’s MFT Hits & Highlights Feature, the MFT Design Team was challenged to create some holiday cards with a cool palette, featuring blues, pinks, and purples that are evocative of falling snow and/or twinkling lights.
I created a slimline card today that features the new Snow Buddies Stamp Set illustrated by Birdie Brown. To create my background, I blended some Distress Oxide Inks (Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, Mermaid Lagoon, and Tumbled Glass) onto a 8.5″ x 3.5″ piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I splattered this piece with some water using a #4 paint brush and then blotted the excess dry with a clean paper towel.
Once completely dry, I then stamped my sentiment onto the top left corner with Black Ink and then heat embossed some snow flakes from this set using some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. I then masked my sentiment and splattered some diluted Opaque White Paint over my background panel to resemble falling snow.
I then stamped all of my images onto another sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copics. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.
Copic Colors Used:
- Middle Dog: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, E47
- Dog on Right: E40, E42, E43 (belly); E31, E23, E25 (body)
- Teals: BG0000, BG10, BG11, BG13, B49
- Blues: BG0000, BG000, BG01, BG05, BG07, BG09
- Pinks: RV0000, RV000, RV52, RV55, RV66, RV69
- Whites: 0, C00, C2, C4, C5
- Purples: BV0000, BV00, BV02, BV13, BV17, BV08
- Skin: E0000, E000, E21, E11, E04
- Fence: E31, E23, E25, E29
To finish my card, I diecut a stitched snow drift using one of the Stitched Snow Drift Die-namics and diecutting it twice along a 8.5″ long strip of white card stock. Lastly, I attached my images to my card front with 3D Foam Adhesive Squares for some added dimension.
