MFT Stamps | Message in a Bottle Card Kit Countdown – Two Days to Go!

January 12, 2020

Hello friends! I’d like to introduce to you the brand new Message in a Bottle Card Kit from MFT Stamps! This kit is super cute and so much fun to work with!

I created a fun little beach-themed shaker card today that features my message in a bottle front and center.

To start my card, I blended some Distress Oxide Inks for my background. I used the Drifts & Hills Stencil to first create my beach. I then masked off an area to blend my ocean and then used the Mini Cloud Stencil to blend in some clouds.

Next, I diecut an area in the center of my card using the Message in a Bottle Die-namics. I lined up this entire piece on an A2 sized (4.25″ x 5.5″) card base glued the negative piece from this cut (that had a portion of my background on it) to this base piece. I then placed some Mini Prills, my stamped sentiment, and a little star fish on top of this negative piece and then carefully glued my Message in a Bottle Shaker Pouch on top. Once dry, I then adhered the rest of my background to my base, laying it over the shaker bottle.

I then diecut a cork (from Cork Paper) using the Message in a Bottle Die-namics and attached it to the top of my shaker pouch with some liquid adhesive. I wanted it to look like the cork had come open so that it would show how “sand” got inside of the bottle. Next, I used the bottle base die to cut a bottle shape from clear acetate and I attached it above my bottle to look like my cork was actually sitting partially inside the bottle and not just on top.

I added a partial palm tree using the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics by cutting the palm tree from a piece of Smooth White Card Stock and then coloring it with Copics. I adhered this tree to the underside of a Stitched Rectangle Frame and used scissors to trim off any excess that stuck out from the outer edges of the frame.

The Message in a Bottle Card Kit will be available this coming Tuesday, January 14th, at 10 AM EST. Make sure to stop by the MFT Blog for more kit inspiration! Leave a comment there for a chance to win a $25 MFT Gift Voucher!
