Hello everyone! It’s time for a brand new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! I encourage you to stretch your creativity and come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! (Winner is chosen at random.)

For my take on today’s sketch, I created a fun little rainy scene using a sweet little pig from the Piggy Pebbles Stamp Set illustrated by Stacey Yacula. To start, I first stamped my image with some Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and colored it with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating die-namics to cut it out.

I set my image aside so that I could next work on the background. To do so, I trimmed a rectangular piece of Smooth White Card Stock and blended it with Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks. I started with the darkest color at the top and the bottom of this panel and then gradually blended toward the middle with the lightest colors, leaving the center with a small patch of white space. I then lightly splattered this piece with some water to create a more realistic rainy effect.

Once this panel was dry, I then heat embossed some rain drops as well as my sentiment with some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. Next, I layerd my panel with some White and Blueberry Card Stock as well as added some blue strips to the base of my card prior to attaching my background panel. Lastly, I adhered my image with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares.

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. Make sure to stop by the MFT Blog for more sketch inspiration and challenge details!
