Hello friends! I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy! I have a new Sketch Challenge to share with you today from My Favorite Things! If you have the extra time, I challenge you to come and play along!

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. It’s a fun one and the possibilities are endless!

To start my card, I first created an ocean background with some Distress Inks and the Ray of Light Stencil. I trimmed a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and masked the outer edges with some purple tape. I then used Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks along with the stencil to create my scene. Once I was finished ink blending, I then used a #4 paintbrush to splatter some clean water onto my piece before blotting it dry with a paper towel.

Next, I cut a piece of Smooth White Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and diecut my arched-style window by first die cutting a square with the Stitched Square STAX Die-namics. I then ran this piece back through my diecutting machine using one of the Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics to create the arch portion.

Next, I stamped my images from both the Birdie Brown Mermazing and Gill Friends Stamp Sets onto another piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and colored them with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and then used the window piece that I had diecut as a reference to where I wanted to place everything inside of the window. I heat embossed my sentiment and an ocean plant with some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

Lastly, I added a piece of clear acetate behind my window and used some 3D Foam Adhesive Tape on my base to create some space for my shaker embellishments.

Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! Make sure to stop by the MFT Blog for more sketch inspiration.

Hi Joan! Here’s a list of what I used. I like to use a lot of different colors to help for easier blending but don’t stress if you don’t have all of them. You can pick and choose similar ones or just use the ones you do have.

Thank you so much, Helen! 🙂
So much fun!
With what is happening in the world today, we card makers have to thank our lucky stars that we have our creativity to help us get through this. I wouldn’t be able to handle the boredom of I didn’t do what I do. After you’ve cleaned the house what else is there to do? I’ve even stamped pieces of cardstock with different stamps and sent them to my niece so that her 4 children (ages 10 and under) can color them!
Stay home. Stay safe.
I totally agree! I find that crafting helps to keep me calm during these crazy times. Hope you are doing well! <3
