MFT Stamps | May Vault Release

May 19, 2020

Hello friends! The May Vault Release from My Favorite Things is now available! I have some 3D Toolbox Box Cards to share with you today that features the Tool Time Die-namics. I was so excited to see this set being re-released. One of the very first cards that I ever made was a toolbox box card for my husband using this same die set about 4 years ago. (See pic below.)

My first Toolbox Box Card 2016

Although my style has changed a bit, I still love this card and my husband has it on his desk at work. As it was back then, the inspiration for my toolbox cards first came from THIS toolbox box card created by Lori Whitlock.

I created my box card by hand using trial and error to measure something that would fit these Tool Time Die-namics perfectly, yet still fit into a standard sized envelope. The only things needed to create my base were card stock of your choice, a scoring board, sharp scissors, adhesive, and a paper trimmer.

My card folds perfectly to fit into a standard A6 sized envelope. When folded flat, the dimensions are 4.5″ x 6.25″. I’ve listed my measurements below if you wanted to try a card like this on your own.

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Cut a piece of card stock to 5″ x 6.25″ and a second piece at 5″ x 2.75″
  • Score both pieces at 1.5″ and 4.5″ on the 5″ side
  • Make sure to cut off the one side flap from the larger piece
  • Drawer sizes: 2 7/8″ x 1″ (x2); 2 7/8″ x .5″ (x1)
  • Silver Strips for drawers: 2 7/8″ x 1/8″
  • Back Pegboard: 2 7/8″ x 5.25″
  • Inside Shelf: 3.75″ x 1″ and scored at 3/8″ & 3 3/8″
  • Side Metal Panels: 1.25″ x 2.5″ (x2)

I used the Pegboard Cover-Up Die-namics to cut my pegboard from Kraft Card Stock. This background die is the perfect addition to the Tool Time Die-namics Set. I used some silver metallic paper for the metal part of my tools and cut the other pieces from smooth white card stock and colored them with Copic Markers to give them some dimension.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Reds: R14, R46, R59
  • Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15, V12
  • Oranges: YR12, YR07, YR18
  • Browns: E31, E23, E25, E29

Lastly, I used the Captions Alphabet and Numbers Die-namics Sets to create some fun sentiments on the front of my tool boxes.
