MFT Stamps | Wednesday Sketch Challenge #494

June 17, 2020

Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new sketch challenge from My Favorite Things! For my take on the sketch, I used the Birdie Brown Adorable Elephants Stamp Set and combined it with the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames Die-namics.

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! Winner is chosen at random.

To start, I stamped my images with Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I colored them with Copic Markers and used the coordinating die-namics to cut them out.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Elephant: W00, W0, W2, W4, W6
  • Butterflies: Y11, Y13, Y15, V12
  • Flowers: RV000, RV00, RV55, RV66
  • Kite: BG000, BG02, BG05, BG07

I then worked on my card background scenery. For the grass, I diecut two pieces of Smooth White Card Stock using the Grassy Hills Die-namics. I then blended both pieces with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink with a slight amount of Mowed Lawn Distress Inks for the tips of the grass. I then splattered each piece lightly with water as well as some diluted Opaque White Paint for some added interest. For my background sky, I lightly blended some Sno Cone and Berrylicious Premium Dye Ink onto a small piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock starting at the bottom and blending with the darkest color to the lightest, leaving some small white space toward the top. I adhered my grass pieces to the bottom of this piece and then glued my Stitched Scallop Frame on top of it all.

Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Bitty Thanks & Gratitude Stamp Set to the front of the grass with Black Ink. I then added my images to this piece with 3D Foam Adhesive Tape for added dimension. I set this piece aside and worked on the base of my card. I trimmed a piece of white card stock to 4.25″ x 11″ and scored it in the center at 5.5″ to create a top-folding A2 card base. I then trimmed a piece of patterned paper from the Summertime Polka Dots Paper Pad to 4.25″ x 3.5″ and added it to the base of my card. Lastly, I adhered my stitched frame scenic piece to the front to complete the design.

Thank you so much, dear Wendi! I love this set too but don’t get to use it as much as I’d like to! 💕
