MFT Stamps | Wednesday Sketch Challenge #495

June 24, 2020

Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! I had a lot of fun playing along with today’s sketch!

Here’s a look at the current sketch layout. You can also flip, rotate, or substitute shapes for images! Stretch your creativity and come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Shopping Spree!

To start my sketch, I first stamped the gorgeous new Coral Flair Background Stamp with Tropical Teal Premium Dye Ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Smooth White Card Stock. I then diecut a rectangular shape into the right side of this piece using one of the smaller stitched rectangles from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics Set 2. In order to do this, I first cut out a smaller sized rectangle and then ran it through my machine again (lining up the sides evenly) so that my rectangle now stretched almost the entire length of my card.

Next, I cut some thin strips from a sheet of Tropical Teal Card Stock and adhered them to the front of my card with liquid adhesive. In order to get the strips to line up on both side, I glued the strip as a whole and then cut off the excess from inside the rectangular window as shown above.

I then stamped my mermaid image from the Birdie Brown Mermazing Stamp Set with black ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and colored her with Copic Markers.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Hair: E50, E53, E55, E57
  • Skin: E0000, E000, E21, E04
  • Tail: BG10, BG11, BG13, BG49
  • Orange: YR02, YR04, YR18

For my background, I diecut a piece of ocean floor with the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and blended it with Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink. I added some details with some brown Copic Markers and a White Gel Pen. For my ocean, I blended some MFT Premium Dye Inks (Sno Cone, Summer Splash, Tropical Teal, and Blueberry) and then splattered this blend generously with water for a textured look. Lastly, I heat embossed some ocean foliage and my sentiment and stamped some fish with some Tropical Teal Ink.
