MFT Stamps | Sky-High Friends Card Kit Release Countdown – Two Days to Go!

July 19, 2020

Hello crafty friends! This month’s Card Kit from My Favorite Things is so amazing! To kick off the countdown, I’m sharing an A2 sized shaker card today. To start, I first stamped the adorable image from the Best Adventure Bears Stamp Set (that’s included in the Sky-High Friends Card Kit) onto a a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock.

I then colored my image with Copic Markers and used the coordinating Die-namics to cut it out. I then set this piece aside to work on my card background.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Bear In Basket: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44
  • Bear Flying: E31, E23, E25, E29
  • Basket: E70, E71, E74, E77
  • Pinks: RV00, RV52, RV55, RV66
  • Indigo: B60, B63, B66
  • Purples: V000, V01, V06, V15, V17

For the background, I trimmed a piece of Smooth White Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and used the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil to blend a mix of pink/purple clouds with some Distress Oxide Inks (Wilted Violet, Milled Lavender, and Spun Sugar). After stamping my sentiment directly onto this piece, I then diecut the outline of my image 5 times and adhered them together to make a clean dimensional silhouette of my image. I glued my image to this elevated piece and attached it to the base of my card with liquid adhesive. In my experience, this technique has worked better than using foam adhesive tape for dimension below my images inside of a shaker card so that my embellishments won’t get stuck. You always have the option to simply glue your image to your card base instead without adding any extra dimension.

Lastly, I added my star embellishments using a mix of Rose Gold Stars and Crystal Stars from Studio Katia as well as some Iridescent Star Confetti from Pretty Pink Posh. To hold my embellishments in place, I then adhered my A2 Rectangle Frame as well as one of the A2 Rectangular Shaker Pouches with some liquid adhesive.

Purple is my favourite colour so I am always drawn to something with that colour. This is no exception and it is a wonderfully designed shaker which makes it special.

This is adorable, Rachel! I just love how you use purples! They are so pretty and vibrant. It’s a different palette than one would expect, too and I like that as well. I also appreciate your sharing how you elevated the image. Such a fun idea for a shaker. Thanks so much, Rachel. Your cards always delight. Have a great week. 🙂
