Hello crafty friends! It’s time for a brand new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! Come play along with us for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! (Winner is chosen at random.)

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. You don’t have to follow the sketch exactly but rather let the sketch inspires you to create.

For my take on the sketch, I used the fun Birdie Brown Unicorns and Glitter Stamp Set. I stamped my images onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock (my favorite!) with Copic friendly Black Ink, colored them all with Copic Markers, and used the coordinating die-namics to cut them out.

For my background, I blended some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Smooth White Card Stock, trimmed it down to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and then added some Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Inks to the edges. Next, I splattered this piece with water using a #4 paint brush and blotted it dry with a paper towel.

Next, I created a white square frame using the Stitched Square STAX Die-namics and lined it up on my card so that I could figure out where to heat emboss my sentiment and stars. I used Fine Detail White Embossing Powder and clear Versamark Ink to allow my sentiment to pop off the blue background. Once dry, I then covered these embossed images with some scraps of card stock and then splattered the rest of the card front with diluted Opaque White Paint.
Lastly, I adhered my square frame with liquid adhesive and then added my images with 3D Foam Adhesive Squares for added dimension. I then finished my card by attaching it to an A2 sized white card base.

Gorgeous background, Rachel. You sure have a way with color and splatters! Looks amazing with the white and how you inked the edges. Your sweet images are colored wonderfully, as well. Thanks for sharing the details of how you created this beauty. 🙂
Thank you so much, my sweet friend! <3
