MFT Stamps | October Release Countdown – Only 24 Hours to Go!

October 5, 2020

Hello friends! There are only 24 hours left until the amazing October Release from My Favorite Things becomes available! I have two fun but simple cards to share with you today.

My first card features the new Polar Opposites Stamp Set combined with the new Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas Stamp. I stamped my two bears and their hats onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, colored them quickly with Copic Markers, and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Copic Color Combos Used:

  • White: 0, C00, C0, C2
  • Reds: R14, R46, R89
  • Blues: B000, B01, B04

I then trimmed a piece of Smooth White Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and blended it with some Distress Oxide Inks. I started with Broken China at the top of my card and blended downward to my lightest color, Tumbled Glass. I then masked off the area where I wanted to stamp my sentiment (with a piece of scrap paper) and splattered my background with diluted white and blue paints. Once dry, I then trimmed this piece with the A2 Stitched Rectangle Die-namics Set 1, stamped my sentiment, and added my images with 3D Foam Adhesive Tape.

For my second project, I created a fun shaker card that features the new Framed Greetings Cover-Up Die-namics combined with the Mini Merry Messages Stamp Set. For the coloring, I used a piece of red card stock and blended it with Candied Apple, Fired Brick, and Black Soot Distress Inks. Once dry, I then diecut it with the Framed Greetings Cover-Up Die-namics and then splattered it lightly with diluted Opaque White Paint.

I created a frame on a base 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of white card stock by adding thin strips of 3D Foam Adhesive Tape around the perimeter. Next, I added my embellishments and then my piece of acetate to hold in the embellishments. Lastly, I used liquid adhesive to add my Cover-Up piece on top of the acetate along with the center piece to which I had heat embossed the sentiment with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

I love your Framed Greetings coverup card!!! Stunning! I’m not normally a “red person” but your card knocks it outta the park, especially with your additional coloring!
What did you use for your shakers? They’re beautiful.

Thank you kindly, dear Karen! They’re from Hobby Lobby. I bought them a few years back so I’m not sure if they make them anymore but they’re called “Make It Christmas” Red Gems (Item #5003413). I hope that helps! 🙂

Excellent work on both cards. The snowy background on the first one is fabulous! And the second card has such a rich and vibrant red! Love that it is a shaker, too. Very impressed, Rachel! Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
