Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things! I had a lot of fun with the layout this week and created a single-layer card using some masking, ink-blending, and Copic coloring.

I used some adorable images from the Sky High Friends Stamp Set for my take on the sketch. To start, I first cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and then stamped my images in the areas where the circles were on the sketch layout. I then covered each image with masking paper that I had stamped and cut out for each one. For this, I used the Gina K. Designs Masking Magic Sheets since they tend to stick well to my page but also peel off easily when I want them to.

I then masked off the top and bottom portions of my card, leaving only a rectangular patch in the center. Next, I blended this area with some Distress Oxide Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet). I splattered this area light with water before gently blotting it dry with a clean paper towel. I then splattered this area again with both diluted white and purple paints.

I then removed my masking pieces and set the card aside to dry. Once I was sure that my background was dry, I then colored my images with Copic Markers. Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.
Copic Color Blends Used:
- Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15, V12
- Bunnies: W00, W0, W2, W4
- Clouds: B0000, B000, B01, B04

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. You can flip and/or rotate the sketch as well as change out the shapes for images. The important thing is to be creative and have FUN!

What a sweet little scene, Rachel. How fun that it is one layer. I think the night sky looks amazing! You do so well with sky backgrounds. The colors are saturated and gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
