Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new sketch challenge from My Favorite Things! I love working with these weekly challenges because they help me to think outside the box when it comes to card layouts. Most of the time, I would never have come up with the layout by myself!

Here’s a look at this week’s sketch layout. You don’t have to follow the sketch exactly and can substitute shapes for images or flip and/or rotate the sketch if you desire so.

I mostly stuck to the sketch layout this week for my design. To start, I first used the A2 Stitched Circle STAX to cut out a large circle from a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Cardstock. I then used the BB Secret Santa Stamp Set along with some Gina K Designs Masking Magic Sheets to create my single-layer scene.

With my masking paper still on my images, I then blended some Distress Inks (Festive Berries, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany, and Ground Espresso) over top of my circle. I blended my darker colors toward the bottom using a piece of scrap paper to mask the top portion in order to create the illusion of a ground/floor area. Next I splattered the top portion with some diluted opaque white paint as well as some diluted gold and brown watercolor paints for added interest.

Next, I removed the masking sheets and allowed this piece to dry before coloring it with Copic Markers.
Copic Color Combos Used:
- Greens: G000, G00, G02, G05, YG17
- Reds: R05, R46, R89
- Skin: E000, E21, E13
- Whites/Beard: 0, C00, C0, C2, C4
- Tree: YG23, YG07, YG17, YG67
- Black: W4, W5, W7

I then cut my circle again with a smaller sized circle and adhered it to a 4″ X 5.25″ piece of Kraft Card Stock. Prior to attaching this circle, I adhered a white piece of cardstock that I had cut using the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics. Next, I trimmed off the edge of my circle and then adhered this entire piece to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of red cardstock.
