MFT Stamps | Wednesday Sketch Challenge #520

December 16, 2020

Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new sketch challenge from MFT Stamps! Come stretch your creativity and play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher! One lucky winner will be chosen at random.

I flipped the sketch layout for my take on the challenge this week. I substituted the circles for images to create a post rainy-day scene. I used images from the adorable BB Rain or Shine Stamp Set and masked them (using some Gina K Designs Masking Magic Sheets) onto my card front to create a one-layer card.

While still leaving on the masking pieces that I had stamped and fussy cut and placed over my stamped images, I blended my background lightly with Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks. I then lightly splattered some water onto this ink blending with a #4 round paint brush and then quickly blotted any excess dry with a clean paper towel. Once this part was dry, I then masked off an area for my ground and blended it with some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink and also splattered this section with both water and diluted sepia watercolor paint.

I then removed my masking pieces and colored my images with Copic Markers once my background was completely dry.

Copic Color Blends Used:

  • Yellows: V12, Y11, Y13, Y15
  • Pinks: RV00, RV63, RV66, RV69
  • Blues: B0000, B000, B02
  • Kahki Pants: E81, E84, E87
  • Skin: E000, E21, E11, E04

Fabulous, Rachel! That’s a fun sketch and I like how you used it here on this sweet card. You do an outstanding job on one layer cards! So much dimension from your coloring. So admire your talent!! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
