Hello friends! The amazing February Release from My Favorite Things is now available! Do you have a favorite? For my final project for the release, I created a one-layered slimline card featuring the new ‘Mice Day to Celebrate’ Stamp Set illustrated by Birdie Brown.
To start, I first trimmed a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock to 3.5″ x 5.5″ and stamped my images using a masking technique to give them depth. I also stamped my images again onto a piece of Gina K. Designs Masking Magic sheets and fussy cut the images so that I could place them over top of the ones on my actual card. With the images all covered, I then blended some Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Inks onto my card base to create my ink-blended background.
With my masking pieces still intact, I then lightly splattered my background with water using a size 4 round paint brush. I let it sit for a few seconds before blotting it dry with a clean paper towel. Next, I splattered it again with some diluted opaque white paint as well as some diluted teal watercolor paint. I then removed my masking pieces and allowed my panel to dry before trimming it down to 3.25″ x 8.25″ and coloring my images with Copic Markers.
Lastly, I stamped my sentiment with black ink and layered my card with both Smooth White and Tropical Teal Card Stock.
