MFT Stamps | April Release Countdown – Five Days and Counting!

April 8, 2021

Hello crafty friends! It’s time to kick off the April Countdown from My Favorite Things! This release is filled with so many cute items that it was hard for me to pick a favorite. Of course, you can never go wrong with Birdie Brown illustrations! I have a card to share with you today that features the brand new Sittin’ Pretty Stamp Set.

I decided to create a one-layer card today with some dimension by using the masking technique. You can achieve similar look without masking but I actually find the fussy cutting required with masking relaxing, so I opted for this look instead. I used a piece of Gina K Designs Masking Magic Sheets (one of my favorite masking papers) for my masks as well as my MISTI in order to line up my images. I usually do a “test card” or a draft card first in order to see exactly where I want to place my images. To do this, use my MISTI to stamp them onto a card base the same size as the one that I will actually use. I don’t mask my images in my test card but rather just stamp them over top of each other to get an idea of placement.

I then re-stamped everything (using masks where necessary) with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. In this card, I actually created a mask for each image so that I could blend my brick walled background in without blended over any of my images. I used the English Brick Wall Stencil as well as some Fired Brick Distress Oxide Ink. I lightened my blended toward as I blended outward, giving an effect of the brick wall gradually blending into the white background.

Lastly, I used Copic Markers to color everything and stamped my sentiment onto the bottom center of my card using Black Ink.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Jeans: B91, B93, B95, B97
  • Pinks: RV63, RV66, RV69
  • Greens: G40, G43, G46, G99
  • Pots: YR12, YR07, YR18, E09
  • Steps & Wall Sconces: W00, W1, W3
  • Bird & Door: B0000, B00, B02
  • Skin: E0000, E000, E21, E13
