Purple Onion Designs – “A Happy Little Place” Stamp Collection

April 30, 2021 - 6 Comments

Hello friends! I am thrilled to be guest designing for Purple Onion Stamps latest red rubber stamp release illustrated by Stacey Yacula! The “A Happy Little Place” collection is filled with so many cute images and gorgeous background and scenic stamps. You can check out the entire collection HERE. I have created three cards to share with you today using some fun images from this amazing release.

For my first card, I created a single layer card using the Flower Shop and Junie (Bunny with Bouquet) stamps. I used my MISTI, a Clear Mounting Stamp, and some Gina K Designs Masking Magic Sheets to mask and stamp my images. I stamped my images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock that I had cut slightly larger than the regular A2 size of 4.25″ x 5.5″. I usually start this way when I know that I will be ink blending because I don’t like having dark ink splotches on the edges of my card. This way, once I am finished, I can then trim the card down to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and get rid of any dark edges.

All of my images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. For my background, I used a blend of Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass, and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Inks.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Bunny: W00, W1, W3
  • Flower Shop: E00, E11, E13, E19
  • Greens: YG01, YG06, YG17, YG67
  • Pinks: RV00, RV63, RV55, RV66
  • Oranges: YR02, YR07, YR18
  • Blues: B0000, B00, B02
  • Yellows: Y13, V12
  • Dark Grays: T0, T2, T4

For my second card, I used the same process as the first. This card features the Ivy Country Cottage, Sally (Cat Strolling), and Pushables Set stamps. For my background, I used a blend of Milled Lavender, Tattered Rose, and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks. I once again, used Copic Markers to color my images.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Grass: G40, G43, G46
  • Brick House: E40, E42, E44
  • Roof: W00, W1, W3
  • Tree: YG01, YG07, YG13, YG67
  • Cat: W00, W1, W3
  • Door and Tree Trunk: E31, E23, E25, E29

Lastly, I created a fun 3D box card featuring the Countryside (Horizon), Anna (Mouse on Bicycle), Alice (Squirrel Carrying Basket), and Stone Wall stamps. For my grass, I used the Sunny Sentiments Die Set from Sunny Studio Stamps. This card folds perfectly to fit into an A2 sized envelope.

Once again, I stamped all of my images onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then colored them with Copic Markers and used my Brother Scan N Cut to cut them out.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Mouse: W00, W1, W3
  • Bike: BG10, BG13
  • Trees: YG01, YG07, YG13, YG67
  • Grass: G40, G43, G46
  • Brick Wall: C00, C1, C3, C5
  • Squirrel: E00, E11, E13, E19

I am not that familiar with Purple Onion but I love what I’m seeing here. If it is Stacey it usually is wonderful… love all your scenes. These characters play so well together. I am definitely going over to Purple Onion. Nicely done and TFS your coloring recipes.

Thank you kindly, dear Anne! They have a beautiful collection of rubber stamps. I never thought that I would enjoy using rubber stamps (compared to clear stamps) but they are super easy to use and leave a nice crisp image.
