Hello friends! I am excited to be guest designing for The Flower Challenge this month. The theme for challenge #57 is Clean and Simple. For my take on the challenge, I created a simple silhouette-styled card featuring the Flower Silhouettes Stamp Set from My Favorite Things.
To start, I first trimmed a piece of Tropical Teal Prestige Card Stock to 4.25″ x 11″, scored it at 5.5″ to create a top-folding vertical card base and set it aside. I then trimmed a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock to slightly larger than 3.5″ x 4.75″ and blended it with a few teal colored MFT Premium Dye Inks (Sno Cone, Summer Splash, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical Teal). I then splattered this piece lightly with water using a clean size 4 round paintbrush. I let the water sit on the ink for about 30 seconds before blotting it dry with a clean paper towel.
Once dry, I then trimmed this piece down to 3.5″ x 4.75″ to get rid of any harsh ink splotches that sometimes appear on the sides of your card stock when ink blending. Next, I splattered this piece again with both diluted Opaque White Paint and Tropical Teal Premium Dye Ink for added interest. I once again let this panel dry. When ready, I next stamped my images from the Floral Silhouettes Stamp Set using my MISTI and some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I repeatedly stamped my images to give them a nice, crisp image. I did the same for my sentiment which I used from the Flowers In Bloom Stamp Set.
Lastly, I trimmed a piece of Smooth White Card Stock to 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ and layered it behind my floral piece. I then adhered them to my A2 sized teal base to complete my card.

Gorgeous card Rachel. Beautiful blending of your teal/blue colours for the background. Adding splatters with water, white paint, and teal ink really give your background so much depth and interest.
