Hello friends! It’s time for a brand new Color Challenge from MFT Stamps. For Color Challenge #169, the colors are Summer Splash, Tropical Teal, Chantilly Cream, and Fire Coral. You don’t have to use these exact colors but rather ones that these colors inspire you to use.
For my take on the challenge, I concentrated more on the Chantilly Cream and Fire Coral hues. I wanted to challenge myself to go out of my comfort zone and use colors that I don’t usually use. Therefore, the majority of my card is in these two colors and I simply added a pop of teal enamel dots at the end.
To start, I first trimmed a piece of Fire Coral Prestige Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″. I then trimmed two pieces of Chantilly Cream Card Stock to 4″ x 5.25″. I adhered the one piece to my coral base and the other one I lightly blended with Crackling Campfire, Abandoned Coral, and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Inks. I started with my darkest color (Crackling Campfire) at the bottom left corner and worked my way up toward my lightest color (Antique Linen). I then splattered this piece lightly with water and blotted dry the excess with a clean paper towel. Next, I splattered this piece again with diluted brown watercolor paint as well as diluted opaque white acrylic paint. Once dry, I trimmed this piece down to 3.75″ x 5″, stamped my sentiment in the top right corner with black ink, and adhered it to my card base.
Next, I stamped my floral image from the gorgeous Magnolia Blossoms Stamp Set onto a sheet of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock, colored it with Copic alcohol markers, and used the coordinating die-namics to cut it out. Once cut out, I then splattered this piece with more diluted acrylic white and brown paints for added interest. Lastly, I adhered it to my card base with 3D Foam Adhesive Tape to give it some added dimension. As I mentioned above, I finished off my card with a pop of teal by adding some turquoise enamel dots.
Copic Colors Used:
- Corals/Reds: R01, R02, R05, R37, R39
- Greens: YG21, YG23, YG67
