Hello crafty friends! There are only 24 hours left until the second of three Birdie Brown Vault Releases will be available! For my card today, I used one of my favorite Birdie Brown Stamp Sets (truly, I love them all lol). The “Happy Hippos” Stamp Set is filled with adorable images.

I kept my card rather clean and simple. I opted for a one-layer card because I love how a single image looks on a partially ink blended background while being all one layer. To do this, I trimmed a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock to slightly larger than 4.25″ x 5.5″

I then stamped my hippo into the upper center section of this piece. I stamped him again onto a sheet of Gina K Designs Masking Magic Paper and fussy cut his image out. I then laid this masking piece over top of his image on my actual card. Next, I masked off the upper and lower sections of my card with two pieces of craft masking tape and blended the inner section with some MFT Premium Dye Inks (Summer Splash and Tropical Teal). Following that, I used a size 4 round brush to splatter both some diluted opaque white acrylic paint as well as some diluted Tropical Teal Premium Dye Ink for added interest.

Next, I removed my masking piece and trimmed my piece down to 3.75″ x 5″. My plan was to layer it with two different colored card stock pieces but I ended up going for a double white layer. It wasn’t what I had in mind when I started but it still worked in the end. The final size of my card was 4.25″ x 5.5″ and fit perfectly into a standard sized A2 envelope. Lastly, I colored my image with Copic Markers and stamped my sentiment with black ink.
Copic Colors Used:
- Green: G0000, G000, BG34, BG18
- Blue-Greens: BG0000, BG01, BG02, BG05
- Reds: R05, R35, R39
- Hippo: W00, W1, W3, W5

Oh this is so cute, Rachel. You know I really enjoy your one layer cards. The background on this one is fabulous and your coloring is always on point. Clean and simple cards can sometimes be harder to create because you have to decide what to leave off and still have it look sharp. You’ve got that nailed, too. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
He is the cutest….and is floating on air! Nice colors and I don’t think there are any of these sets from this vault release that I wouldn’t love to have….
