Hello crafty friends! This month’s Slimline Challenge is all about making fall-themed cards. I made a one-layered slimline card that features fun images from 6 different Birdie Brown Stamp Sets. I love combining stamp sets because it helps to stretch their use. I am guilty of buying stamp sets at times and never using them. However, by combing them, I ensure that I use them more often (and therefore maybe justify my purchases lol).

I stamped and masked my images onto a 3.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Card Stock. For my masking paper, I used a sheet of Gina K Designs Magic Masking Sheets. These work really well when ink blending over top of them without pulling the mask off of my card stock. Once all of my masks were in place, I then masked off the ground area with a piece of masking tape and blended my fall sky with some Distress Oxide Inks (Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, and Candied Apple). I was a bit nervous to try this type of color blend since I had never done it before, but I was pleased with how it turned out. Once I finished blending my background sky, I then removed my masking pieces and trimmed my piece down to 3.25″ x 5.25″. I then colored my images with Copic Markers, stamped my sentiment, and layered my card with a piece of 3.5″ x 5.5″ Smooth White Card Stock, and a piece of 3.75″ X 8.75″ Lazy Day Card Stock.

What a delightful and cozy card, Rachel. Perfect for a fall theme. I hear you about buying sets and not using them. I’m totally guilty of that. 😉 This is a great way to put some of those into creative use. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous coloring skills and the combos you used to achieve the look. That background is stunning! Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Thank you so much, my sweet friend! I’m glad I’m not the only one LOL!
I love the sky! What a great colour combination 😀 could I please ask how you do the snowflakes? Was it with a pen or with a splatter technique? Thank you!
Thank you for your sweet comments, Solance! I used a size 4 round paint brush and added some of my white paint to a clear acrylic stamp block. I then spritzed it a few times with water, mixed the paint and water with my paint brush, and then lightly tapped my brush while holding it over my card stock. I hope this helps! 💖
I adore this card! Your talent is outstanding and sharing the colours you have used so generous for those of us with a ‘slight’ colour problem lol. You are a gift! Thank you!
You are so sweet, Irene, thank you! I greatly appreciate your sweet comments! 🥰
