MFT Stamps | Barnyard Birthday Box Card

February 17, 2022

Hello crafty friends! I have a fun MFT Stamps birthday box card to share with you today that was recently featured on the 2022 Card Maker Success Summit MFT Live Stream Video. I am including a quick “how to” tutorial as well as links to all of the products that I used (see bottom of this post) and a list of all the Copic Marker colors and MFT inks that I used.

** (Supplies listed at bottom of this post) **

To start my card, I first die cut my card base from Smooth White Card Stock using the Mini Slimline Outside the Box Level Up Die-namics. I added some layering pieces to the front and sides by die cutting some gorgeous Something Blue Card Stock. Next, I used some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder to heat emboss my sentiment on the front strip, prior to adhering it to my card.

Next, I adhered my card base together using some MFT Fine Point Precision Glue. I then die cut some grass using both some Sour Apple Card Stock and the Mini Slimline Grassy Hills Die-namics. I wanted to add some dimension to my grass, so I quickly blended the tips of each piece with some Sour Apple Premium Dye Ink and then added a few white ink splatters by diluting some white acrylic paint and using a size 4 round paint brush to tap off the excess onto my pieces of grass. For my background sky, I blended both Something Blue and Lazy Day Premium Dye Inks (starting with the darker color at the bottom and blending upward to my lighter color) onto a piece of Smooth White Card Stock and then die cut it with my rounded background die (included in the Mini Slimline Outside the Box Level Up Die-namics). I usually blend my ink before I diecut so that there are no harsh ink stains on the edges of my card stock, but this is not necessary if you prefer to die cut the piece first.

All of my images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, colored with Copic Markers, and cut out using their coordinating dies. I then used a white gel pen to add some accents.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Pig & Cow’s Snout: E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13
  • Blues: B12, B16, B18
  • Reds: R14, R46, R89
  • Oranges: YR02, YR07, YR18
  • Greens: YG01, YG07, YG17
  • Y11, Y13, Y15, V12
  • Rooster: 0, C00, C1, C3; E41, E42, E43, E44
  • Cow: W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9
  • Chick: YR20, YR21, YR23, E33

You don’t have to use the same exact colors that I used to get similar results. I list them so that you can use them as a reference and pick a similar color that you own if you don’t have the same one.

Lastly, I added a cute little fence that I had cut from Smooth White Card Stock using the Garden Gate Die-namics. I glued a few gate pieces together to make one long gate. As you can see in the photo above, this card fits perfectly into a #7 Mini Slimline Envelope for mailing!
