Here is a look at this week’s challenge layout. You don’t have to follow the sketch exactly but can flip/rotate the shapes or replace them with images.

For my take on the sketch, I created an ocean-themed one-layered card using images from the BB Gill Friends Stamp Set. I flipped part of the sketch layout and aligned my fish according to the reversed pattern. I used my MISTI to stamp my fish onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock that I had trimmed slightly larger than 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Next, I stamped my images again onto a sheet of Gina K Designs Masking Magic Sheets and fussy cut each one to mask each image. Once each image was masked, I then used a piece of low tack masking tape to mask off the right side of my card so that I could ink blend the left side. I then blended the area over the fish with Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Black Soot Distress Inks to create some “water”.

Once I finished blending, I splattered the area with some water using a sized 4 round paint brush. Next, I blotted dry the area with a clean paper towel and then stamped my sentiment onto the lower right corner with black ink. Lastly, I colored my images with Copic markers and trimmed my card down to 4.25″ x 5.5″ to get rid of any harsh ink stains on the edges of my card.

Beautiful card, Rachel. Great theme, wonderfully colorful and super cute images! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your sweet comments, my friend! Hope you are having a lovely week!
I was thinking of fish when I woke up this morning… I am in need of a card for my younger brother for his birthday in May. He is an avid fisherman. Not these fish around where we live, but you know what I mean. Love your layout and the colors are fabulous. TFS!
Lol, that’s so cute that you woke up thinking of fish! My husband is an avid fisherman too so I’m always trying to find new fish stamps etc to make cards for him. You’re right that these aren’t the type of fish that they catch LOL. Sending lots of hugs your way! 🥰
