Hello crafty friends! It’s time for a brand new MFT sketch challenge! Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!
Here’s a look at WSC 601. You don’t have to follow the sketch exactly but can rotate the layout or substitute the shapes with images. The goal is to challenge yourself and have fun!
For my take on the sketch, I created an ocean-themed A2 sized card (5.5″ x 4.25″) using images from the Birdie Brown Friends With Fins Stamp Set. I stamped my images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored my images with Copic Markers.
Copic Colors Used:
- Dolphins: W00, W1, W3, W5
- Orca: W1, W3, W5, W7
- Hearts: R35, R59, R89
Once I was done coloring, I cut out my images using the coordinating Friends With Fins Die-namics. I then set my images aside to work on my background. To start, I trimmed a piece of Something Blue Card Stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and then layered it with some white card stock pieces. The top two vertical pieces are sized at 2″ x 3.5″ and the bottom piece at 4 1/8″ x 1 3/4″. I then layered each of these pieces with some ink blended panels that I trimmed o 1/8″ smaller than the white pieces.
To create my ink-blended panels, I blended each piece of Smooth White Card Stock with Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks. To add some texture, I splattered each panel with water and then blotted them dry with a paper towel. Next, I added some white and blue ink spatters. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment, adhered my panels to my base with double-sided tape, and then added my images with some foam tape for a pop of dimension.
