Hello crafty friends! I am excited to share with you this month’s Large Die of the Month Kit from Spellbinders! I love all things beach/ocean related, so I immediately fell in love with the new Whale in a Bottle Etched Die Set. This set is available at the discounted club price until the 27th of this month (June 2023) or while supplies last. Once the club sells out, you will have to wait a few months to be able to purchase this item separately for regular retail price. ** Affiliated links used where applicable at no extra cost to you. **
I created a fun bottle shaker card today. You don’t have to make it a shaker card (the products are gorgeous on their own!), but I enjoy adding this extra element. To do this, I used the two largest dies in the set to create a thin frame in the shape of the bottle. I die cut 6 of them from 100lb white card stock and glued 5 of them together to form a nice, neat shaker wall.
I then adhered this wall to a white bottle base that I had die cut using the largest bottle die in the set. I added a water-background base piece that I had ink blended with some Salvaged Patina, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks. I also added a sky base piece that I had blended with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. For some added interest, I added some water spatters to my ink-blended water piece and blotted it dry with a clean paper towel.
I used all Spellbinders Card Stock pieces to die cut my images. This part was super easy. All you have to do is add them into your bottle wherever you want them to go. I usually like to add dimension to my cards, but because this was a shaker card, and I didn’t want my images to stick out too far, I simply added them to my base with some liquid adhesive. To finish my card, I die cut a piece of clear acetate in the shape of the entire bottle and adhered it to the top of my frame. Lastly, I added my final frame piece to the top of the acetate to once again outline the bottle.
Thanks so much for dropping by! If you liked this card and want more inspiration, please feel free to check out my INSTAGRAM FEED!
