Spellbinders | Windows with a View Collection – Vista View Window

February 15, 2024

Hello crafty friends! I am excited to share with you the gorgeous new Windows with a View Collection from Spellbinders! My card today features the Vista View Window Etched Die Set combined with The Botanical Solarium Etched Die Set.

To give my design some depth, I used inks to add some quick and easy shading to my die cuts. To start my card, I first die cut all of my pieces from a variety of Spellbinders colored card stock pieces. I then used distress ink to add some shading to each image before assembling them together.

  • Greens: Peridot Card Stock + Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot Distress Inks
  • Oranges: Persimmon Card Stock + Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks
  • Teals: Waterfall Card Stock + Peacock Feathers and Black Soot Distress Inks
  • Pinks: Fruit Punch Card Stock + Picked Raspberry and Black Soot Distress Inks
  • Yellows: Beeswax + Rustic Hinge and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks

For my card base, I used two 4.25″ x 5.5″ pieces of Portobello Card Stock. I left the bottom piece as-is and layered it with an ink-blended piece that I had used for my sky (ink colors used listed below). I then die cut an arch in my second portobello piece and adhered it over my base piece that contained the ink-blended piece. Next, I die cut my window frame from some white card stock and adhered it into the arch cut out with some liquid adhesive.

  • Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink
  • Dried Marigold Distress Oxide Ink
  • Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink
  • Dusty Concord Distress Oxide Ink

Lastly, I adhered my die cuts with some 3D foam adhesive squares for a pop of dimension and then added a sentiment (from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp Set) that I had heat embossed with some Fine Detail White Embossing Powder onto a strip of black card stock.

The view from my window still has snow! I love yours, much more pleasing to the eye. I guess I need to check out the cardstock at Spellbinders, these colors are so gorgeous. Love your card and if you have any spare sunshine, send it my way …

Can you believe that we haven’t had much sunshine lately?! It’s been dreary and cold here. We finally saw the sun today, but it’s still a bit too cold for me (I’m such a wimp when it comes to the cold LOL). I hope it warms up for you soon!! 💗

Hello, I'm Rachel! Thanks so much for dropping by and welcome to my blog! I love creating and am excited to share with you my love for card making and paper crafting.
